What is the quality difference between brand new and refurbished computers?

brand new is out of the box and A refurbished computer, on the other hand, has been returned to the manufacturer because a part on it wasn’t working. What they’ve done is they’ve replaced the part that wasn’t working. Then they rebox them for sale.. I like refurbished better.. they are cheap and still have a warranty same as brand new..

I need to buy a laptop but not urgently now, I was looking for good deal: High specs with low price. Do you think it worth to wait until thanksgiving day where i’ll find better offers and real discounts? Or for laptops it won’t much differ?

In the realm of electronics, you can always wait and buy something faster and cheaper in the future.

Black Friday sales tend to focus on low priced, low spec items that people are willing to wait in freezing lines for hours to get the handful actually offered. I’d shop around and pick one up when I saw it at a decent price. The longer you can wait before buying, the better.

I need a new laptop and I will be doing everyday things on it such as e-mail, internet, using it to write papers, etc. I also want it to play games on. I need something with a fast processor and a good sized hard drive and doesn’t get too hot. Any suggestions for laptops? And what specifically should I be looking for as far as memory and all that stuff?

which laptop is better to get i know apple laptops are always better but its refurbished and there is a hp laptop but brand new each the same price ????????help what would you get.

First and foremost, please realize that Mac OSX is not Windows. So if you’re buying a Mac for someone, are they prepared to use a different operating system? While a lot of major programs are available on both, the operating systems are certainly different. So that has to be put into consideration.

Next, what is the support network for Macs around you? Macs are still computers. They are still susceptible to software and hardware problems. I’m not saying anything serious will happen to you, but it could. And at the very least, some small hiccups will happen. So are there friends or family that are Mac users easily accessible? How about a Mac certified technician? If you are super hands-on in fixing computer problems this might not be as much of an issue, but if you aren’t, you might want to give it more thought.

Refurbished is okay if its from the same manufacturer. Like HP refurbished from HP or Apple refurbished from Apple I would trust. But refurbished by another reseller not so much frankly.

As for HP vs Apple, in today’s age the hardware is nearly the same. Since Apple jumped to Intel processors, their hardware is now very much inline with IBM Clone hardware. So I would make my decision on needs of software and OS. I like Macs a lot, but don’t think they are for everyone. I think you should need/want particular Mac software (whether OS or applications) if you want to go Mac or if you are truly fed up with Windows. But if you’re okay with Windows and have no super huge interested in a Mac only product, then it might not be the right choice.

I am not too picky, I know want one with built-in web camera.

I want it less than $800, runs fast..etc..which would you recommend and from which store? thanksss!
I don’t want to get Dell since I’ve had bad experiences with that Brand.

For approx. $800 you can get Sony Vaio FZ series laptop on eBay.
There are a lot of them refurbished and brand new for this price.

I am wanting a laptop so i can do stuff for my xbox and just look up stuff on the internet anytime…. So if anybody can find a cheap laptop that has good features, please tell me. I am wanting a lot of memory, fast processor, etc. Just find what you can…. THNX =D

hello friends, I am trying to connect my laptop with my friends using remote desktop through internet.

I want to take access to my friends laptop screen.

Please tell me how to configure and connect two laptop using remote desktop connection in internet. We too are in different places, so I want to access his remote desktop screen from my place. I been trying but I am unable to do so. Please help me in configuring our two laptops. we too using the same laptops and same operating system( win XP pro).

I can suggest to use netmeeting instead of Remote Desktop Connection. The reasons are;
1)Already installed on your laptop.If you cannot find the icon type "conf" on start->Run
2)There is a mechanism for accept reject incoming calls(some kind of security)
3)You can share one of your desktop view only or with full control.
4) If you prefer you can share only one application.

I am sure you will receive answers for RDC also. You need RDC only when you want to run a program on other laptop without disturbing other users.
