hi! i want to buy a laptop for writing stories on, using the internet and creating little homemade movies on, i’m aiming for a budget of about £300-£400, but i don’t have a clue about the first thing about laptops, i just know how to use them lol ^-^, what laptop should i get and what company is the best to buy it from? thank you!

I work for an IT consultancy and the first thing I will say is DONT GO TO PC WORLD!
The reason for this is they claim their computers are ‘plug and play’ which means that you can take it home, plug it in and away you go… big mistake. Think anti virus, spywear etc etc. I stupidy (before learning about IT) bought one from there and it is rubbish.
Dell or HP are your best bet. Best buy direct from them so you are covered if things go wrong.

Another thing you might wanna know is I did not receive any kind of recovery CDs or Windows install disc with this, to recover your PC you press F12 I believe in the BIOS screen and it recovers from a partition already on the hard drive.
Any other info anyone would be wanting to know post a comment and I’ll try my best to answer you!

UPDATE: I Have tried different laptop cooling pads with no results, I am pretty much forced to send it back to HP to have them look at it, cause even the Windows sticker on the bottom is coming off because of how hot it is….the only type of air flow i can put into words that you need to use on this to keep it cool, would be running a high RPM box fan right under it if you do any moderate multi tasking or gaming…even though my temps have sky rocketed before just idling…

A decent notebook will cost you between 700 and 800 bucks, you can find a deal for around 600 but that is the market price, buying an used computer has a few risk because the life expectancy for a notebook is around 3 years. Try this links they are good options.
