It it worth the risk of buying a used laptop?

I saw an ad on Craigslist for an ad that said barely used laptop for $125. I never owned a laptop before but thought I will take a chance and buy this one. I am going to meet the owner this afternoon. What should I look for when buying this laptop and is it worth my risk to buy it?

I would not…
"barely used" may mean it has problems and does not run well. Also, there is no "warranty" of any sort, if something is wrong with it.

You have to watch out for Craigslist, there are a lot of scammers out there. Always deal in person (meet at a coffee shop or shopping mall), and test the machine out for 1/2 hour or so before buying anything. Bring a friend along, one who knows a bit about laptops… (and it is safer to have someone with you)

It may be a stolen machine, ask the seller where they got (bought) it from, and if possible, ask for the serial number. Crooks will hesitate to give that information out. If the seller says they bought it at a store, ask them to bring the original sales receipt.

Finally, ask for photo ID from the seller, so you can be sure of who they are, and write down their home address (like from a drivers license). That way, if the laptop turns out to be stolen, you can tell the cops who it was. You can also verify their phone number/address through a reverse phone lookup on the Internet.

Bottom line, if it is an honest seller, you should be able to identify them easily, and identify the laptop (serial, where bought, etc…)

Are there return policies for a used Laptop?

i bought this used laptop from this ..computer store and i forgot to ask if it may be returned. the laptop functions well for around $300 but i dont really like it. it’s only been about two weeks or less. they mentioned that there is a 1 year warranty on the computer from the store.

Well, if you don’t ask them, you won’t know…

Living in Belgium, we’ve got different laws around here, like two year warranties and two-weeks money back guarantees and stuff -although the latter doesn’t apply for second hand or refurbished goods. For those it’s the dealer’s perogative to choose whatever he/she sees fit.

Swapping goods outside of the two weeks money-back policy is also up to the goodwill of the shop…

Like I said, if you don’t ask…

Kevin Devine – “I Used To Be Someone”

Kevin Devine – “I Used To Be Someone”

little-videos.com

Aaron and I met up with Kevin and Morgan at Rob Schnapf’s studio in Eagle Rock, where Kevin was mixing his new record while in LA for the month, on the morning of Friday the 13th. Sure, it seems kind of silly for me to be rolling into one of the nicer studios in Los Angeles with a couple okay mic’s and plugging in my laptop to record a band, but we really wanted to do this session while Kevin was in town and it seemed like a good use of the studio while Rob was in the other room mixing (although, I think Rob might have been kind of annoyed at the whole situation, but he was a good sport about it). It was actually a surprisingly slow moving setup (for only two people), or not so much slow, as “leisurely paced” (there was a lot of sitting around outside, chatting, mexican food, red vines, coffee, Mark Chalecki came over to hang out for a bit).

Morgan and Kevin met this past year at SXSW, and had sort of instantly hit it off (not surprisingly as two insanely talented musicians, but also two of the nicest, cheerful, easygoing people ever). So when Kevin came out to the West Coast (to finish his album and play a few shows), and couldn’t bring his band out with him, he asked Morgan if she’d sit in on a few intimate acoustic shows with him, which of course, worked out splendidly. If you were lucky enough to catch one of his weekly residencies at Hotel Cafe, you can attest to the dynamic energy of the nights (and the rare occurrence of a room full of Hollywood hipsters so enthralled actually listening to the performers that you could hear a pin drop in that room).

Kevin and Morgan played four stripped-down songs off the upcoming record, which I’m pretty excited about. http://www.facebook.com/KevinDevineMusic

Always Use Original Ac Adapter/Charger For Laptops & Notebooks -KcLaptopCare

http://www.KcLaptopParts.com
We generally replace our mobile phone’s or laptop’s original charger with that of compatible one’s just because of a BIG BIG difference in their prices. Don’t Do that Buy Original Be Original.
1. Compatible adaptors generally don’t have any certainty in terms of power ( output ). Every laptop or mobile phone is designed to operate on a particular power input but these compatible adaptors provide a single output (which is sometimes higher or lower than the standard requirement).
2.Compatible adaptors are mostly responsible for all such battery backup issues. Our laptop or mobiles shows the 100 % charge in their battery but when it comes to the utilization of the same, battery backup gradually decreases.
3.Compatible adaptors are not durable if compared with original adaptors. They generally get heated when used for long hours because of cheap parts used while manufacturing.
