How to connect a TV to computer, HDTV to computer or laptop

Parts used: http://jasonrj.net/blog/how-connect-hdtv-computer

I explain the best way to connect your desktop or laptop computer to your HDTV. This will not work with a standard definition TV. I choose the HDMI cable method because it is the absolute best way to do this when concerned with picture quality. I use a DVI to HDMI converter but a video card with a built in HDMI port is even better.

Please note that just about any computer is capable of doing this but if the video card is not powerful enough you may see choppy video on the TV as a result.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON EXPENSIVE HDMI CABLES!!!!
The cheap cables are EXACTLY as good as the ridiculously expensive ones. This is a proven fact that I find hilarious people try to argue:

Used laptop with windows already installed?

If I buy a used laptop computer that has MS Windows (legal) installed, will I use this operating system legally? Let’s say it’s a laptop computer that was bought in a computer shop and had the OEM version of the OS. It’s very important to me. Thanks in advance.

Food for additional thought, if the original owner used the OS on more than one computer at sometime the system may stop working if you update it or such. Technically you purchased the laptop with a system and have NO reason to think that it is a copied system so I see no problem in using it.

1980s Zenith Supersport laptop computer

This old laptop works like brand new. The battery even held a good charge the last time I used it a few years ago. It’s an 80C88 running at 7.16 MHz (50% faster than the original IBM PC), with 640K RAM, an electroluminescent backlit monochrome 10.5″ LCD with 640×200 CGA resolution, two 3.5″ 720K floppy drives, and a very nice desktop-quality keyboard. A 20 MB hard drive and built-in modem were optional; mine has neither. I also demonstrate it using my Tandy CM-11 as an external color monitor.

Here is a very good web site with lots of photos and information on this laptop:

What is the best way, if there is one, to buy a used laptop (or possibly a desktop) computer?

I really need to replace an Apple iMac desktop that is almost nine years old. I would like to buy a used Apple laptop, but will also consider a used Apple desktop or even a Windows machine. I know that it’s always best to spend as much as one can afford to get the computer you really want, but I’m wondering if there is any way to get a decent used machine. I welcome all suggestions & answers.

refurbished ( used ) PC’s are a bargain.
I’ve gotten great deals for friends and family at these places.
Get at least a dual core processor.
Spend as much as you can blow away.
You wont be sorry later.
