Where can i buy a cheap laptop with good specs?

I’m after a decent laptop for a cheap price.
Would like Apple Mac or Windows. Either will be good.
Specs should be 80GB Hard drive and 1Gb ram minimum.
I need a cheap one.
Where can i get one from?

My favorite budget unit;

Dell Vostro 1000 – $429

Dell Vostro 1000 (Sempron 3500+ 2GHz, 512MB RAM, 60GB HDD, Vista Home Basic)
Dell has the Vostro 1000 Entry level 6.26lb Notebook AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core TK-53 1.7Ghz, 15.4in Screen, 1GB/120GB, DVD Writer, 802.11g wireless, ATI Graphics, 1yr warranty, XP or Vista Home Basic for $429 shipped free.

If you want something cheap—a MAC will run you $1000.00+
My suggestion is go onto ebay. Look around for the laptops that you are interested in. Sometimes you can get a really good deal on refurbished laptops. These are laptops which may have been "lighty used" but, in order for a deal to sell them as authentic—they send them back to the company and have everything factory restored…it is also completely checked out for any problems.
If you really don’t have the money, this may be the way to go.
If you don’t want to take the risk.
Head to ebay and start bidding. You may get lucky. Read the sellers feedbacks and see that they are reputable!!

Seems like Dell has a "rebuilt" department and I can say no wrong about their sales and svc departments.

Almost every Sunday morning, both the Circuit City and Best Buy flyers have great Laptops under $500, last week they were as low as $299.
Even if you don’t have a Circuit City or Best Buy near you, you can shop online at http://www.circuitcity.com or http://www.bestbuy.com
I would NEVER buy a laptop at a pawn shop or from eBay.
Where do you go for support? I buy lots of stuff on eBay but never a computer and pawn shops sell used stuff for more than new many times.
Remember that what ever is today’s fastest and greatest will be next month’s mediocre so don’t get caught up in the hype.
Don’t let salesmen or anyone else steer you into buying the expensive souped up model when you don’t need it, especially since even if you did buy it, in three months, it won’t be the fastest, it will be much cheaper but the same salesman will tell you that it isn’t what you need. The more you spend, the more they make!! Many companies are making lots of big money hyping the new processors, new this , new that. Don’t get caught up in it.
Lastly, most people don’t know that if you buy a computer, or many other things, with Visa, Mastercard or American Express, those credit card companies automatically will double your warranty up to one year. So if you get one year from Dell for instance, Visa would give you one more year. this service is free and for details just call you credit card company and ask about "Quality Assurance" My point is:
Don’t buy a 3 year warranty for $200 from CC or Best Buy if you get 2 years for absolutely nothing.

    Hope this helps, bob
