WIN a Toshiba Notebook PC from Blunty3000. Seriously.
Blunty3000 is joining forces with Toshiba to Give away a Portégé R600 to celebrate it being named the greenest notebook on the planet according to Greenpeaces second annual Green Electronics Survey, 2008.
That means it’s free, you win it, it’s yours, take it home, give it a name and pet it and caress it and dance a little inside, put fallout boy stickers on it, write in your emo blog, make youtube videos mocking my big fat head, use it as a brutal machine of ultimate wifi freedom carnage at the airport, hey it’s your new notebook computer you won it fair and square, do what you like with it.
To show how “cool” (yeah you’ll get that bloody awful pun once you see the vid) their Portégé R600 is, they are giving one away to whoever comes up with the best music to suit their new video.
HOW TO WIN…
Suggest a musical accompaniment to compliment Toshiba’s new “Ice sculpture” video and add your suggestion as a youtube comment,
or video response to this video
The winner, as chosen by Nate “Blunty” Burr will recieve a Toshiba
Portégé R600 Notebook!
Closing date of competition is
April 3rd 2009.
Winning entry announced
on April 10th 2009
Pretty frikkin sweet prize too… sure it’s the greenest, but it’s also the LIGHTEST fully featured Notebook out there. (fully featured means it has things most other manufacturers leave out of their ultra portables… like plenty of ports and Built-in Optical Drives)

“a great choice for mobile professionals”

“one of the best ultraportables on the market” – cnet.com.au
“The ultra- portable notebook is also ENERGY STAR® 4.0 compliant and features a LED backlit display, the latest CPUs, the option for a Solid State Drive (SSD) as a storage medium that results in low energy consumption and long battery life, further reducing its environmental impact.
Toshiba believes that when it comes to award-winning products that less is more. We minimise waste and use recycled materials wherever we can, while constantly looking for ways to reduce energy consumption, Mr Whittard general manager, Toshiba ISD ANZ, said.
Our own recycling programs keep discarded technology from fouling the soil and atmosphere, as does our devotion to worldwide environmental initiatives. Plus, we check to see that the people who make the materials that go into our products follow earth-friendly practices just as we do so we all can enjoy mobile computing amid a cleaner, more sustainable environment.
The life-cycle approach is good for life. One of our key objectives is to reduce the environmental impact of our products throughout their life-cycle. To do this, we assess every stage of the process, from procurement through to disposal.
In the interests of full disclosure, (and because I know I’ll be asked thanks to some other dodgy youtubers and their sneaky back-room deals who’re damaging all our reputations here) no, I wasn’t paid to pimp this competition, not a single cent…
so why do it? simply, I was asked if I’d like to help run it and I said yes, because the concept was fun, I get to give away a frikkin sweet laptop computer to one of my viewers, and also, many many years ago I owned an early Portégé model (back in the days of pentium III chips) and it was WAY ahead of it’s time, pretty much a “netbook” a good decade before we started calling them that, it was tiny, it weighed almost nothing, it was truly ultra portable, and I bloody loved it, great machine, never let me down.
So I’m a fan of what Toshiba do, with their dedication to making good gear, and now even more so with their strong commitment to environmental responsibility…. I am however, TRYING to score a freebie R600 from them hehe,(hey if ya don’t ask you’ll never get
) because I’m pretty impressed by the R600, and a man like me can really use a good tough road-warrior machine (I do have a 9 inch netbook, but those little guys have some limits I smash into from time to time).

Menq International Ltd EasyPC E760 89 dollar Laptop
This past few days, my video of the HiVision miniNote http://techvideoblog.com/ifa/98-linux-laptop-the-hivision-mininote/ has been seen by over 100 thousand people thanks to links from Slashdot, Gizmodo and Digg. But at IFA 2008, I actually saw a Laptop by Menq International Ltd called the EasyPC E760 that was advertised as being even cheaper at only 9 per laptop. It runs on a Samsung ARM processor, has a 7″ 480×272 resolution screen and runs Windows CE with some customized browser, word processing, Skype and media player.
