How to connect a TV to computer, HDTV to computer or laptop

I explain the best way to connect your desktop or laptop computer to your HDTV. This will not work with a standard definition TV. I choose the HDMI cable method because it is the absolute best way to do this when concerned with picture quality. I use a DVI to HDMI converter but a video card with a built in HDMI port is even better.
Please note that just about any computer is capable of doing this but if the video card is not powerful enough you may see choppy video on the TV as a result.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON EXPENSIVE HDMI CABLES!!!!
The cheap cables are EXACTLY as good as the ridiculously expensive ones. This is a proven fact that I find hilarious people try to argue:

If you bend your cheap cable to a certain point the inner shielding will brake which will result in poor audio/video quality… even if it’s digital.
But as long as the cable is ok, you’re right, the quality is exactly the same.

sup man, thanks to your vid, i was finally able to connect my pc to hdtv via hdmi both video & audio.. didnt need that dvi to hdmi adpater as my vidcard has built-in hdmi anyway.. still, it wouldnt hurt buyin 1 of those just in case.. your a big help man.

I got the DVI to HDMI cable and I get picture for a while (2-5 secs) the my HDTV freeze and turns off by itself. The screen seems like its getting brighter and brighter then turns off. I already tried all resolutions but I always get the same outcome. Any Ideas. If I turn on the computer using DVI to HDMI cable the HDTV turns off at the Log In screen. I Already tried using it in Windows XP and Windows 7 ( I have dual boot).

Hi, in ur video u use a converter to connect the DVI connection on ur pc to the HDMI connection on ur tv. Do u have to use this or can u just buy a DVI to HDMI cable?
